Every year, hundreds of thousands of university, vocational and secondary-school graduates arrive on the Algerian job market with the same problem: vacancies ask for experience, and they have none yet. Still, beginners are hired every day. What sets them apart is neither connections nor luck but a method: target the right vacancies, turn an internship or a training course into visible experience, use the public schemes that pay for the time spent searching, and present yourself as someone who learns fast. This guide details 7 strategies that work in Algeria, with the figures and legal texts current as of 29/10/2026, then a 30-day action plan.
What “experience required” really means
The “2 to 3 years of experience” line in a vacancy is often copied and pasted from a job description, not an eliminating condition. The recruiter wants to reduce risk: someone who will be operational quickly and will not leave after three months. A beginner who demonstrates both points, through projects, an internship and attitude, regularly beats “experienced” but unmotivated candidates. Among the vacancies published on Chghol as of 29/10/2026, about a third set no minimum experience or accept one year at most: that is your hunting ground, and it is wider than people think.
The second misunderstanding is the word “experience” itself. A three-month final-year internship, a final-year project done for a company, a summer job, a volunteer project or an online shop you ran are experience. They count if you present them as such: with context, tasks and a result. The rest of this guide explains how to produce them and how to write them up.
The 7 strategies, in the order to apply them
1. Target the vacancies made for you
Filter by experience level and wilaya first. The positions that hire the most beginners are well known: field sales, call-centre agent, administrative assistant, junior accountant, junior developer, maintenance technician, logistics agent, waiter and front desk, private-school teacher, sales agent in banking and insurance. Read every vacancy to the end: if “beginners welcome” or “training provided” appears, the employer plans to train. Apply within 48 hours: beginner vacancies receive many applications and the first ones read have an edge.
2. Make an internship, a final-year project or an apprenticeship your first experience
The internship is the most common way into a first fixed-term or permanent contract: a share of interns are hired where they did their internship, because the employer has already seen the work. Ask for a proper internship agreement (school, company, intern), a defined assignment and a detailed internship certificate at the end; the guide on internships and final-year projects in Algeria explains the agreement and the allowance. If you are leaving secondary school or aiming at a technical trade, apprenticeship at a CFPA or INSFP combines training and company time, with a pre-salary of 3,000 DA in the first months then 30 %, 50 % and 60 % of the SNMG: the details are in the vocational training guide.
3. Write a beginner’s CV that does not look empty
A beginner’s CV is built backwards: first a clear headline (“Junior web developer — PHP / Laravel”, “Bilingual administrative assistant”), then a concrete Skills section (tools, languages with level, software), then Projects and internships described with action verbs and a figure where possible (“showcase site delivered in 6 weeks”, “40 customer calls a day during the internship”), and only then the education. Avoid empty sections, poor-quality photos and generic objectives. The guide on writing a CV in Algeria gives the structure, and Chghol’s CV builder lays it out in minutes. Prepare an Arabic version for public bodies and SMEs, and a French version for private groups.
4. Apply unsolicited and activate your network
Many Algerian companies, especially SMEs, hire without posting an ad: through word of mouth, former interns, CVs received. Unsolicited applications therefore work when targeted: a specific company, a specific role, three lines on what you bring, in French or Arabic depending on the company, sometimes as a handwritten request for public bodies; the guide on cover letters and handwritten requests offers templates. On the network side, tell your teachers, former classmates already in jobs, extended family and internship contacts that you are looking, naming the target trade: one internal recommendation is worth ten anonymous applications. On Chghol, company pages let you send an unsolicited application straight to the recruiter.
5. Register with ANEM and claim the unemployment allowance
Registering with the National Employment Agency is free and done at your wilaya’s local office. It gives access to the agency’s placements (employers must declare their vacancies to it, law no. 04-19 of 25 December 2004) and, if you are 19 to 40, have never worked and have no income, to the 15,000 DA monthly unemployment allowance with social cover (executive decree no. 22-70 of 10 February 2022, amount raised since January 2024), requested online at minha.anem.dz. In return you must remain available, attend the training offered and accept compatible offers: these are precisely chances to get into a company. Full conditions are in the guide on the unemployment allowance and first job.
6. Add the missing skill
Compare five vacancies in your trade and note what keeps coming up that you lack: a software tool (advanced Excel, Sage, AutoCAD, Odoo), a language (business English), a licence (driving, CACES, HSE), a digital certification (Google, Cisco, Microsoft, often free online). A qualifying course of a few weeks at a CFPA, an evening class or an online certification fills the gap and gives the CV a recent, concrete line. It is also the signal recruiters expect from a beginner: proof that you learn on your own.
7. Accept an imperfect first contract, on your terms
The first job is not the job of your life: a six-month fixed-term contract, a temp assignment, a maternity-leave replacement or a few freelance assignments (writing, design, development, data entry, translation) give you what you lack most, references and proof. Set your limits: a written contract, pay at least equal to the SNMG (20,000 DA net minimum for full time, presidential decree no. 21-137), CNAS registration from day one, and a lawful probation period. Keep applying in parallel: being in a job makes you more credible.

Your 30-day plan
- 1
Days 1 to 3: define the target
Pick one or two precise trades and two wilayas. Read twenty vacancies in those trades and note the recurring skills. That is your keyword list for the CV and the search.
- 2
Days 4 to 7: build the file
Beginner’s CV in French and Arabic, a template letter to adapt, a complete Chghol profile with your skills, availability and expectations. Request your internship and training certificates if you do not have them.
- 3
Days 8 to 10: the public steps
Register with ANEM, apply for the unemployment allowance if eligible, pre-register for a short course if a skill is missing.
- 4
Days 11 to 25: apply every day
Five targeted applications a day: three to “beginners welcome” vacancies, two unsolicited to chosen companies. Create an alert on your trade and wilaya to apply within 48 hours. Keep a tracking sheet.
- 5
Days 26 to 30: follow up and prepare interviews
Politely follow up on unanswered applications after ten days. Prepare the classic questions and your project examples with the job interview guide. Adjust the CV from the feedback.
After these 30 days you will have sent about 75 targeted applications, had several interviews and, in most cases, received a first offer. If not, the problem is almost always in the same place: a target too wide, a CV too empty or applications too slow. Fix one parameter at a time and run the cycle again.
Frequently asked questions
Can I apply to a vacancy asking for 2 years of experience?
Yes, if you cover the key skills and your internship or projects show it. The experience line is often a preference; the recruiter decides on the CV and the interview. Say so honestly in the letter and put your proof forward.
Does an internship count as experience?
Yes, if it had a real assignment and you present it with context, tasks and result. Always ask for a detailed certificate. A final-year project done for a company counts the same way.
What salary can I ask for with no experience?
Never less than the SNMG of 20,000 DA net for full time. Beyond that it depends on the trade and the wilaya: Chghol’s Salaries pages give the observed ranges by trade, to compare with the education level required.
Can the probation period last a year?
No: six months at most, extended to twelve months only for highly qualified positions (article 18 of law 90-11). During probation you are paid and registered with CNAS like any employee.
Should I register with ANEM even if I search on my own?
Yes: registration is free, employers declare their vacancies to the agency, and it is the condition for the 15,000 DA unemployment allowance (ages 19 to 40, no income) and for the training it offers.
Is it better to accept a fixed-term contract or wait for a permanent one?
For a first job, a written, declared fixed-term contract paid at least the SNMG beats a long wait: it brings references and can be reclassified or renewed. Keep applying during the contract.
Does military service block my hiring?
Employers ask for the national service card or a document proving a regular status (deferment, exemption, completion). Update your status before applying, so you do not lose an offer at contract time.
