“Jobs of the future” rankings often talk about roles that barely exist in Algerian job ads. We did the opposite: we counted what recruiters actually publish. This page analyses the ≈ 400 live job offers posted or relayed on Chghol on 28 October 2026, ranks occupations and wilayas, then explains, role by role, what makes the difference in an application.
The 15 most advertised jobs at the end of 2026
| Occupation | Share of offers | What the ads most often require |
|---|---|---|
| Sales representative (field, B2B, territory) | 13 % | Field sales experience, driving licence and often a car, numbered targets, good knowledge of a wilaya or a sector (food, pharma, building materials) |
| Administrative assistant | 7 % | MS Office, writing in French (and Arabic), mail and document handling, reception; bilingual appreciated |
| Medical representative | 7 % | Pharmacy, biology or science degree; driving licence; network of doctors and pharmacies; confident speaker |
| Accountant | 7 % | PC Compta or Sage, G50 returns, CNAS, closings; bachelor’s or master’s in accounting; 2 to 5 years of experience |
| Production operator | 6 % | Shift work (3 × 8), compliance with quality and safety rules; vocational training or secondary level; beginners often accepted |
| Buyer | 4 % | Supplier negotiation, imports (Incoterms, freight forwarding, bank domiciliation), ERP; English often required |
| Maintenance technician | 4 % | Electromechanics, automation, fault diagnosis, CMMS; certifications; availability for on-call duty |
| Quality controller | 4 % | ISO 9001 / 22000 standards, in-line and laboratory checks, traceability; food and pharma lead |
| HR officer | 3 % | Payroll and CNAS declarations, labour law (law 90-11), recruitment, payroll software |
| Project manager | 3 % | Planning, budget, team coordination; construction, IT or industry; MS Project or Jira |
| Marketing manager | 3 % | Digital marketing, brand management, social media campaigns, sales analysis |
| Storekeeper | 2 % | Stock management, inventories, forklift driving (CACES appreciated), management software |
| Customer support agent | 2 % | Phone and online customer service, CRM, patience and clear expression; bilingual, sometimes trilingual |
| Logistics manager | 2 % | Transport, customs, flow planning, warehouse management |
| Software developer, financial analyst, graphic designer | 2 % each | Portfolio or real projects, specific tools (React, Flutter, Power BI, Adobe suite), autonomy |
Two readings stand out. First, SME support functions (administration, accounting, HR, purchasing) together weigh close to a quarter of the offers: they are the steadiest roles on the market, in every sector. Second, industry is hiring: production, maintenance and quality account for 14 % of the ads, driven by food processing, pharmaceuticals, building materials and packaging.
Where the offers are: the wilayas that hire
| Wilaya | Share of offers | What is hiring |
|---|---|---|
| Algiers | 60 % | Head offices, trade, pharma, services, IT; almost every managerial position |
| Oran | 9 % | Industry, port logistics, trade, hospitality |
| Blida | 4 % | Food processing, pharmaceutical industry, maintenance |
| Biskra | 3 % | Agriculture and agro-industry, trade |
| Boumerdès, Sétif | 2 % each | Industrial zones, production, quality, maintenance |
| Constantine, Annaba, Béjaïa, Relizane | 2 % each | Regional trade, industry, food processing |
| Ghardaïa, Bordj Bou Arréridj | 1 % to 2 % | Electronics and home appliances (BBA), services and trade (Ghardaïa) |
Algiers crushes the ranking because online ads mostly reflect structured companies, whose head offices are in the capital. But the capital’s share drops as soon as you look at industrial occupations: for a production operator or maintenance technician position, one offer in two is outside Algiers, in the industrial belt Blida – Boumerdès – Sétif – Bordj Bou Arréridj. Southern occupations (oil, gas, energy) rarely go through general job ads: they are hired through subcontractors, specialised agencies and networks.
What this says about the market
- Sales remains the first entry-level job. Companies hire sales representatives continuously, with high turnover. It is also the role where a motivated beginner with a driving licence and good knowledge of their region is most often called back.
- Pharma and health drive the ads. Local drug manufacturing (around sixty plants) feeds the demand for medical representatives, quality controllers and skilled production operators.
- Support functions require tools, not more degrees. PC Compta, Sage, advanced Excel, payroll software: an accountant who masters the G50 and CNAS declarations is worth more than a master’s degree without practice.
- Tech is under-represented in ads. Developers, system administrators and designers are largely hired through LinkedIn, referrals and communities: the 2 % of ads do not reflect real demand, which remains high.
- Bilingualism has become a prerequisite. Written French and Arabic for administration and customer support; English makes the difference in purchasing, IT and international groups.
How to position yourself, role by role
- 1
Sales representative
Put numbers on everything: portfolio, target achieved, new clients. State your licence, the territory covered and the sectors you know. A sales CV with no figure and no geography is discarded in seconds.
- 2
Accountant and finance roles
Name the software (PC Compta, Sage 100, Excel with pivot tables) and the returns you handle alone (G50, CNAS, balance sheet). One example: “monthly closings for two companies delivered within five days”.
- 3
Medical representative
Highlight your scientific background, your licence, your knowledge of laboratories and product ranges, and above all your network of prescribers by wilaya. The oral pitch counts as much as the CV: prepare a two-minute product presentation.
- 4
Production, maintenance, quality
List certifications (electrical, forklift, HSE), the machines and standards you know (ISO 9001, 22000, HACCP), and your availability for shift work. Industrial recruiters check safety and reliability first.
- 5
Administration, HR, customer support
State your level in French, Arabic and English, your tools (MS Office, payroll software, CRM) and one concrete achievement (“CNAS files for 80 employees with no penalty”). A short, error-free cover letter still makes the difference for these roles.
In every case, match your CV title to the job title and keep it on one page under ten years of experience: see how to write a CV in Algeria and the most common interview questions. The CV templates by occupation, for instance the accountant CV, follow the expectations above.
The jobs that hire without job ads
Drivers, delivery riders, masons and construction workers, waiters and cooks, security guards, cleaners: these trades employ hundreds of thousands of people yet account for less than 5 % of online ads. They are hired by word of mouth, wilaya Facebook groups, posted notices and ANEM. If you are looking in these trades: register at your municipality’s ANEM agency, drop a simple one-page CV with employers in your neighbourhood, and switch on an alert for the few offers that are published, often filled within 48 hours.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most in-demand job in Algeria in 2026?
In online ads, field sales representative: about 13 % of live offers at the end of October 2026. In total employment as measured by the ONS, retail, construction, transport and administration occupations lead, and they mostly hire outside job ads.
Which jobs hire beginners?
Sales representative, production operator, customer support, administrative assistant and medical representative often accept profiles without experience, provided you show motivation, mobility and the basics (driving licence, office tools, a science background for pharma).
Do you have to live in Algiers to find a managerial job?
Not necessarily, but most managerial positions are based there. Oran, Constantine, Sétif and Annaba offer regional manager roles, and industry hires technical managers across its industrial belt. Remote work remains rare outside tech.
Do salaries follow demand?
Partly: occupations where qualified candidates are scarce (industrial maintenance, purchasing and imports, software development) negotiate better. Chghol’s salary pages by occupation show the ranges as soon as enough offers state them.
Do these figures hold for the whole year?
No: demand is seasonal (peak after summer and early in the year, dip during Ramadan and in August). The article is updated when the picture changes; the date appears at the top of the page.
